Personnel transportation

Since 1 July 2004, Morlenn Express has been providing maritime transport for defence personnel between the various military sites in Brest harbour, under public contracts.

The fleet consists of six identical Bindy-type ships, each with a capacity of 400 covered seats, and the Louarn ship, with a capacity of 393 passengers.

The six Bindy vessels are specially adapted to operate in Brest harbour. They were developed by the naval architecture firm Met et design and built by the Gamelin shipyards in La Rochelle.

‘Morlenn’ means ‘roadstead’ in Breton. The ships are named after islets in the Brest harbour: Bindy, Tibidy, Treberon, Arun, Terenez and Louarn.
